BL2 è una lampada da tavolo compatta e molto funzionale. È girevole e perciò può illuminare in maniera ottimale ogni angolo. Anche il Primo Ministro britannico Winston Churchill si innamorò a suo tempo della lampada Bestlite. Oltre ad averne una sulla sua scrivania a Whitehall, era solito portare la lampada con sé nei suoi viaggi all’estero. Amata da architetti, designer e appassionati di design da 80 anni, Bestlite oggi è un’autentica icona globale del design.

Designer
Robert Dudley Best (1892–1984) era erede della fabbrica di lampade più grande al mondo, fondata a Birmingham nel 1840. Nonostante la storia di successo della fabbrica, Best aveva la sensazione che le lampade da essa prodotte fossero fuori moda e datate. Nel 1925 Best visitò la Mostra internazionale di design moderno a Parigi e, ispirato da ciò che vide, iniziò a studiare a Parigi e Düsseldorf. Durante gli studi divenne amico di Walter Gropius, il fondatore del movimento Bauhaus. Fu durante questo periodo che si fece ispirare dalla Bauhaus e realizzò i primi schizzi di quello che poi divenne l'iconico design di Bestlite.
