Designer
Jukka Setälä (nato nel 1967) è un architetto d’interni finlandese che si è laureato presso l’Università di Arte Design di Helsinki nel 1996. Subito dopo la laurea ha iniziato a lavorare come designer freelance di mobili e lampade. Jukka Setälä ha creato molti prodotti – principalmente design industriale – ma il suo design più famoso è senza dubbio la poltrona sacco Fatboy the Original.
Creata nel 1998, Fatboy the Original è una poltrona sacco comoda e di classe, perfetta per il relax. L’idea alla base del prodotto è semplice ma allo stesso geniale: un’enorme poltrona sacco che può essere utilizzata quasi ovunque – a casa, in ufficio, ecc. – e che è l’ideale non solo per sedervisi ma anche per sdraiarsi o fare un pisolino e anche come letto per gli ospiti. Da questo modello di base sono nate molte altre versioni. Jukka Setälä ha partecipato a molte mostre e ricevuto vari riconoscimenti per i suoi lavori, come il premio Excellent Swedish Design Award per la lampada Spring o il Best New Furniture in Europe 2006. Dal 1999 Jukka Setälä insegna design del mobile presso l’Università di Arte Design di Helsinki.
